2.  How should I clean Sunbrella?

A: When it’s time for a thorough cleaning, Sunbrella fabrics can be cleaned while still on a boat, or size permitting, they can be removed for cleaning in a washing machine or dockside. Professional cleaning is recommended. When cleaning Sunbrella fabrics, it is important to observe the following:

  • Always use a mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite.
  • Water should be cold to lukewarm (Never more than 100°F/38°C.)
  • Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
  • Air dry only. Never apply heat to Sunbrella fabrics

.
Heavy cleaning for stubborn stains and mildew
Sunbrella fabric does not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are not removed from the fabric. To clean mildew, or other stubborn stains:

  • Eight ounces (one cup) of chlorine bleach.
  • Two ounces (1/4 cup) of mild soap and/or detergent.
  • One gallon of water.
  • Clean with soft bristle brush.
  • Allow mixture to soak into the fabric for up to 15 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
  • Air dry.
  • Repeat if necessary.
  • Re-treatment of fabric for water and stain resistance will be necessary.

3.  What clear plastc can be used?

There are three basic grades we use good, better, and best in our opinion. Thicknesses we use are .030 and .040.

.

The good grade is most commonly used for items where visibility is needed, but clarity is not as critical. this is mainly used on small boats where the curtains are removed and reinstalled often. This is a .030 thickness.

The better grade we use is "Crystal Clear 20/20" (030). Made by the makers of Strataglass. Crystal has good clarity.

The best grade we use is "O'Sea 040". This vinyl is ideally suited for applications where exceptional optical clarity and durability are vital. O'Sea offers a high degree of scratch resistance, UV durability, superior stain and chemical resistance.

4.  How should I clean my clear plastic panels?

A: When cleaning and polishing clear vinyl, we recommend IMAR Products. IMAR Protective Polish and Protective Cleaner will clean and add a protective barrier against the damaging effects of marine environment pollutants. Please don’t use any harsh cleaners like Simple Green and/or pine as those cleaners will dull the curtains quickly.

Warning

  • Use of RAINEX on clear vinyl appears to work for a short time but then dulls the surface and presents an "Orange Peel" effect. Do not use RAINEX.

  • DO NOT HANDLE STRATAGLASS (OR ANY VINYL) WITH SUNSCREEN ON YOUR HANDS! This will permanently cloud the vinyl where handled.

5.  How do I clean my Stamoid covers?

A: We recommend the IMAR Products. Using the three step system will clean and protect.
